Directive Communication - Day 6

Another wonderful day and more fulfilled the journey becomes.

Have you ever thought what happens to the new employee who has just joined your organization and not been allowed to participate in meetings? Little did you know that as a team player he was always driven by the emotion of being responsible/ contribution and today you have created an environment where his primary emotional need is left unfulfilled? You have need sucked him. Before you realize, his performance levels have dipped or the new employee has already decided to move on and take his services else were.

Such instances are very common in many organizations. The organizations seldom realize the aspect of managing the emotional currency.

Understanding our won brain colour and the 3 primary emotional drivers were very well depicted by the first activity - Human Driver Challenge. This actually brought out various emotional drives we experience in our each day transactions and how it enhances the team productivity.

The second activity for the day was managing emotional currency. Wow!! Another game which gave me a lot of insights of how employees can underperform or over perform beyond their capabilities just when you acknowledge their emotions.

Today, I actually applied the learning I have had with real people around me. I enjoyed the spark in the eyes of people who were amused to know their brain colour processing by picking up 5 cards from CBC. I had the privilege of helping a couple which was planning to date in the future by letting them know their individual colours and their way of processing information. In addition, I identified their emotional driver as well. Though initially they were very apprehensive but they could really understand the processing ability of their brain and emotional drivers. I wished them luck and shared the email Ids to keep connected in the future.

Directive Communication - Day 5

After the impact I had on me of working with various colored brain processors and how one can act intelligently or in self destructive way, today was a journey where we needed completely disconnect with the brain color and understand the importance of the EMOTINAL being within us.

We started the day with understanding more about the Pyramid of Commitment. How Skills, attitude leads your way to self-actualization.

Circle of Communication resistance was one of the wonderful things which one can immediately start implementing. The concept of circle of Internal & External Rebellion is driven by your primary emotional drives & your core values.

The iceberg of perception, knowing the things we do and what we really want are not necessarily as they appear. To now the underlying emotions keep asking “Why” questions until you find your foundation reason and driving motivation for wanting it.

I was waiting to know and learn that there are 8 fundamental human drivers Belonging/Love, Security/Control, Diversity/Change, Recognition/Significance, Achievement, Challenge/Growth, Excellence, Responsibility/Contribution was the best learning of the day.

It was so very fulfilling at the end of the day when we knew our 3 primary emotional drivers and how it impacts our everyday interaction and other things around us.

Knowing my own primary drivers and how is impacting my near and dear ones was so very profound.
When someone is deprived emotionally of his emotional needs what happens? You are being need sucked. It is an emotional defence of your brain. This causes Poor Performance.

Directive Communication - Day 4

I am writing the day 4 blog almost after a delay of one day.

The reason is I had to go back to the land of solitude and spend some time with my own self. Today was a journey of self-discovery.

After gaining insights on various colour brain processors today I realized that it is so very essential to have the right composition in a team. I also could understand how things can reach a scenario where the productivity levels of the team can get impacted with an unusual composition of the team.

I had to go into the land of solitude to understand what I could do in a scenario where I can read the colour brain processors of people around me. The most important thing I could learn is to increase my level of tolerance and gain more understanding of my own Colour brain processor.

I realized the challenges which each brain processor can face and how one can easily connect and with others once he gains mastery on brain colour processors.

I am excited and eagerly waiting to know how emotional drivers play significant role in our lives.

Directive Communication - Day 3

We all want a colourful life don’t we?
Wow!! Life is actually so colourful and simplified when we understand the CBC (Colour Brain Communication).
We all are chasing the treasure in the external world with our coloured brain processor and get amused when others can’t see the things which you can see.  Once I understand how my processor works and why I react in a certain way, the world around me becomes so simplified. It is an icing on the cake when I also know the various other processors exist around me and their nature of processing the information around us. WOW! Doesn’t that add colours to your life? It certainly does.
Once we overcome the Colour brain syndrome, life certainly becomes simplified.
There are four wonderful colours which explain our genetic processing of information. Red, Green, Blue, and Purple. The Colored Brain Communication Inventory (CBCI) helps you to know and understand the coloured brain processor each of us has.

Red Brain is a linear processor. Clarity in purpose and direction is important, well-structured and good at long term perspective.

Green Brain is a chaotic processor. It can see big picture, nothing is connected and achieves clarity through action.

Blue Brain is an intuitive processor. Everything is connected through sensitivity, multi-tasking, ability to organize, empathetic and people centric.

Purple Brain is a relational processor. Data is the king. Needs lots of information to get clarity, detailed, creates system and difficult to delegate, slow to take action.

CBCI adds colours to your life!

Directive Communication - Day 2

Directive Communication – Day 2

Take key away for the day:

1)      RAS – Your FOCUS - a tool towards fulfilment in our lives

2)      When you BLAME you create a FLAME in the relationship/ in the environment around you

3)      NO BLAME ZONE!

4)      Encoded Assumptions – Rules of Engagement

Let me ask you a very simple question, how many times do we blame the environment around us to be a major player for everything that is happening in our lives? Almost every time.

I have seen many close friends/ relations falling apart when they got into the BLAME game.

“It was he who started it!”

“It was never me, he just cannot understand”

Even before you realize, this BLAME is a FLAME which and spreading around you and makes the environment unpleasant.

Our reality is based on what I am focusing on – My RAS determines what I really want to focus and perceive about things around me and that becomes my reality which affects how I treat others. How I treat them will affect their behaviour with you. To make it simple, I hold the remote control and play the news which I perceive is the most important news of the hour. Others act like the DUMB Television box with NO intelligence and respond to the trigger button.

We need to be aware on what is my RAS doing to me. Is it helping me create the environment I am craving for or is it distancing me from it. The answer is within each one of us.

No Blame Zone! Act The Hero’s Way i.e., acting intelligently and start focusing on the solutions.

Our encoded assumptions – our perceptions create limitation and being open minded to how perceptions of others differ from our own can widen our own experiences and provide limitless possibilities for growth and discovery.

Also to act intelligently – it is important to understand the cognitive brain (Intelligence centre), limbic brain (Emotional Centre) and the reptilian brain (reactive centre).

The reptilian brain is the lizard brain which stops you from being intelligent.  We all need to act from our cognitive brain i.e, my intelligent brain and become more evolved.

Directive Communcation - Day 1

I have noticed in the past few years that many around us have started using a very similar language. A language filled with statements as, I am unable to lead successful life coz.., I want to do this but the people around me do not allow me to.., I am unable to perform coz of the circumstances around me…, and many more. And the fact is that THERE are increasing numbers of people around us who are using similar statements and are living an unfulfilled life.

A life which is seeking answers to many questions. A life filled with questions, worries, doubts, guilt, blame and much more.

Where do we head from here? Do we have a solution to these set of questions?

Yes, we do!

Day 1 of Directive Communication:

The life time journey started with a bang! After 3 months of wait finally DC – TTT is here. Wonderful day and amazing people, great amount of learning!

We started talking about each other using CBC (Colour Brain Communication) Cards. One of the first tools we learnt in DC, it immediately became my favourite. A very powerful tool, I used it rest of the day in many different ways.

It was very interesting to know how DC Psychology was born and the journey of Arthur F Carmazzi, who is ranked as one of the World’s top 10 leadership gurus.

Then it was Rama (The Hero), Jack (The Villain) and Mary (The Observer) who are now our companions for rest of the DC journey.

The definitions & assumptions of DC are just amazing to become more aware about your own self, your environment and your own world.

“The four insanities” steal the show on the first day of DC:

1)      Common sense is Obvious

2)      If you can do it, others should be able to

3)      People should be fair

4)      Truth is universal

Colonel Aalok’s was amazing. He has stumped me with the amazing amount of energy and his magnetic persona. He has been an amazing person with wonderful ability to understand people and environment around him.

In addition, the other DC family members Rakhi, Anshul, Rishi, Ajit, Rajoo all have made our day 1 more eventful and made me more inquisitive for DC – day 2.
